The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's lacrosse team capped off their 2024 regular season with an 8-1 victory over the Laurentian Voyageurs on Sunday, October 20 at Varsity Stadium.
The Blues struck early in the first quarter, with Declan McPherson opening the scoring five minutes into the game. Alexander May added two goals late in the frame to give the Blues a 3-0 lead that they would hold until halftime.
McPherson added his second goal of the game early in the third quarter. May completed his hat-trick five minutes into the quarter, then added a fourth not long after. Kevin Taihang Yan found the back of the net twice before the end of the game to give the Blues a cushion.
Laurentian got on the board with just three and a half minutes remaining in the game, when 24 broke goalie Christopher Williams' shutout.
Toronto improves to 4-6 with this win, moving into a tie for fifth place in the CUFLA West division with the McMaster Marauders. Laurentian falls to 0-10. The Blues secure their spot in the CUFLA playoffs, which begin next weekend. Details to be announced.
