BLUES RALLY FALLS SHORT AGAINST MUSTANGS

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's volleyball team fell to the Western Mustangs in a tough 3-2 loss on Saturday, October 19 at Goldring Centre. Set scores in the match were 16-25, 15-25, 25-20, 25-18, and 5-15.

The Blues struggled to find their rhythm early in the match, dropping the first two sets before rallying to take the third set 25-20. Toronto kept up the momentum, winning the fourth set 25-18. Julia Murmann was an integral part of the comeback effort, leading the Blues with 17 kills and adding 12 digs. Olivia Zhu had a strong performance with nine kills and three services aces, while Giulia Chimilovski added nine kills of her own. Toronto's defense kept the match competitive, with Murmann leading the team with 12 digs, Robin Melnick adding ten, and Delaney Watson with nine.

Western held strong and kept their composure throughout the Blues comeback, winning the fifth set 15-5. The Mustangs were led by Rachel Gray, who posted 13 kills, and Lael Harrison added 12 kills and 12 digs. Western was able to capitalize on Toronto's mistakes, and their offense and serving proved to be enough to hold on for the win.

The Blues look to rebound from this loss when they open the regular season at home against the McMaster Marauders on Friday, October 25. First serve at Goldring Centre is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. and the game will be streamed on oua.tv.
