The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's basketball team faced off against the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks in Oshawa on Saturday (Oct. 19) afternoon, falling by a final score of 60-46.
First-year guard Lia Barberi once again led the way for the Blues with 13 points, while adding five rebounds, three steals, and one assist to round out her stat line. Second-year standout Raya Hafez contributed with nine pointes, all coming from three-point range, while first-year forward Zi Yang was a key presence on the boards, pulling down six rebounds.
Off the bench, Sienna Caesar provided a spark during her 10 minutes of action, including five points and three steals. Making her preseason debut, fourth-year guard Kaylee Williams added four points for the Blues, while Jade Diwandja registered a team-high seven rebounds.
The home side Ridgebacks received a game-high 14 points from Kaleah Gosse, while Adra Barnet added eight points and eight rebounds off the bench.
The Blues will begin their regular season campaign next Friday (Oct. 25) as they travel to Sudbury to face the Laurentian Voyageurs. Tip off is scheduled for 6 p.m., with the game available to stream online at
