The Varsity Blues fought hard against the Laurentian Voyageurs tonight (Oct. 25) in Sudbury, ON, but ultimately came up short with a final score of 38-57.
Standout performances included Varsity Blues rookie Lia Barberi, who led the team with 11 points, seven rebounds, and an impressive eight steals, showing relentless effort on defense. Second-year guard, Raya Hafez, and fifth-year forward, Thuraya Abdul Hamid, each contributed seven points, with Hafez hitting two three-pointers. Additionally, fourth-year guard Kaylee Williams provided solid support off the bench, adding four points and four rebounds.
The Voyageurs were led by Cadence Pecore who tallied a game-high 14 points. Emilie Lafond and Molly Adams added 13 and 11 points, for Laurentian, respectively.
The Blues will use this experience to regroup and come back stronger for their next game against the Nipissing Lakers tomorrow (Oct. 26) in North Bay, ON. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m., with the action available to stream online via
