BLUES CLINCH FIRST PLACE WITH WIN OVER VOYAGEURS

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's soccer team dominated the Laurentian Voyageurs in an unforgettable 11-1 victory on October 13 at Varsity Stadium, clinching first place and securing a home playoff game.

Toronto's offense was firing on all cylinders, with Andrea Schifano leading the charge by scoring four goals in the first 18 minutes to put the game firmly in the Blues control.

Schifano started the scoring early at the two-minute mark, quickly followed by a second goal just a minute later. He completed his hat trick at the fifteen-minute mark, with a fourth goal coming a minute and a half-later. Toronto never looked back, continuing their relentless attack. Thomas Tome, Kingsley Belele, Oliver Barta, and Russell Stewart all added goals in the second half, as the Blues outshot Laurentian 29-9, with 16 of those shots on target.

Laurentian managed to get one goal back through Nicolas Patenaude at the twenty-three minute mark, but it wasn't enough to slow down the surging Blues. The Blues' defense, led by goalkeeper Alex Lin, was solid throughout, allowing only two shots on target, both of which were saved by Lin.

With this monumental win, Toronto not only secured their ninth victory of the season but also clinched the top spot in the OUA East, ensuring their first playoff game will be played on home turf. The Blues will enter the playoffs brimming with confidence after this dominant performance, ready to take on an opponent to be determined at Varsity Stadium on Wednesday, October 23.
