The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's basketball team battled hard but ultimately fell 61-51 in a closely contested game against the Dalhousie Tigers on Saturday afternoon (Oct. 12).
Blues rookie guard Lia Barberi delivered a standout performance, recording a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. In addition, the Vaughan, Ont. native also contributed four assists and two steals. Off the bench, Zi Yang made a significant impact, pulling down a game-high 14 rebounds and adding 9 points. Sh'rye Johnson also provided an offensive spark, scoring 10 points, including two key three-pointers.
On the glass, the Blues we're dominant tallying 59 total rebounds.
Up next, the Blues will take their talents to Oshawa, Ont. to face Ontario Tech next Saturday (Oct.19).
