DAUDU LEADS BLUES OVER GRYPHONS

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's basketball team beat the Guelph Gryphons 95-85 in their first win of 2024 on Thursday (Jan. 4) night at the Goldring Centre for High Performance Sport. 

The Blues opened the game strong, picking up a commanding 10-point lead after the first quarter. Aleer Aleer-Leek and Noah Ngamba dominated the quarter, recording 12 and 10 points respectively for Toronto. The Blues continued to hold their advantage throughout the entire game, despite a big push from the Gryphons in the fourth quarter.

Anthony Daudu led the way for the Blues, recording a double-double with a career-high 25 points and 13 rebounds. The fourth-year forward put up 10 of his 25 points in the fourth quarter, including back-to-back three's to seal the deal for the Blue and White. Forward Lennart Weber also recorded a double-double, with 10 points and 12 rebounds. 

Blues guard Callum Baker added 21 points for his sixth game this season with 20 or more points.

Up next, the Blues face off against the Brock Badgers on Saturday (Jan. 6) at the Goldring Centre for High-Performance Sport. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. Tickets for the game are available at varsityblues.ca/tickets, while action is also streamed online at oua.tv.
