The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's basketball team fell to the No. 3 Queen's Gaels 96-91 at the Goldring Centre Kimel Family Field House on Saturday (Jan. 20) night.
Battling back-and-forth through the first half no team looked to have the better of the other. At the break, the Blues and Gaels were locked at 53-53. With the Blues shooting 46.7% to the Gaels 27.8% from beyond the arc.
By the end of the game, Toronto would lead in both free-throws and rebounds, but would ultimately fall to the Gaels with a final score of 96-91.
Toronto was led by second-year guard Noah Ngamba who scored a game-high 24 points, shooting 100% from the free-throw line. Fourth-year forward Anthony Daudu was once again dominant under the basket with a game-high 11 rebounds and adding 10 points. Third-year forward Lennert Weber also helped the Blues in their dominance on the boards recording eight rebounds in his 30 minutes of play.
Michael Kelvin stood out for Queen's tallying 22 points and seven rebounds. Right behind Kelvin was Luka Syllas who contributed 21 points and nine assists.
Up next, the Blues flying to Sault Ste. Marie next weekend to face off Algoma Thunderbirds on Saturday (Jan. 27) night. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. The action is streamed online at oua.tv.
