The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's hockey team fell 3-2 in overtime to the Windsor Lancers on Saturday (Jan. 13) night in Windsor, Ont.
The Blues secured an early advantage in the first period, with rookie forward Julian Recine securing his fifth goal of the season for the Blues just minutes after puck drop. 13 seconds later the Blues were on the board again when second-year forward Nicholas Wong put the Blues up by two. The Lancers cut into the Blues lead on the power play minutes later.
In the second period, Lancers forward Mason Kohn evened the score on the power play six minutes into the period.
After a scoreless third period, the Blues and Lancers headed to overtime with the Lancers scoring early on with a goal from Holden Wale.
Blues goalie Jordan Fairlie finished the game with 34 saves through the four periods of play.
The Blues are back on the road next weekend with two back-to-back games in Kingston, Ont., with the first game on Friday (Jan 19) against the Queen's Gaels. Puck drop is set for 7:30 p.m., while the game will be streamed online at oua.tv.
