BLUES AND RIDGEBACKS PLAY TO DRAW

The Varsity Blues men's soccer team drew 2-2 with the Ontario Ridgebacks on Saturday (Sept. 28) afternoon in Oshawa, Ont.
 
U of T came out hot in the first half agains the nationally ranked opponent, with second-year midfielder Naseeb Bains opening the scoring in just the second minute courtesy an assist from first-year forward Andrea Schifano.

However, in the 21st minute Noah Laronde scored for the Ridgebacks off a corner to tie up the game.  
 
Adding to his season total and scoring his second goal in as many games, Blues rookie sensation Michael Maslanka took the lead back for U of T right before the halftime whistle. Maslanka now sits in a tie for fifth in the OUA scoring race with five goals sis games played this season.

Following the halftime break, the No. 5 nationally ranked Ridgebacks increased the pressure on the Blues, eventually breaking through as Omar Marzouk found an equalizer for the home side in the 67th minute. But the Toronto defence would continue to stand tall through the closing 20 minutes and secure a point on the road with the draw.
 
Second-year goalkeeper Alex Lin finished the contest with two saves through the 90 minutes. 
 
The Blues will now make their way back to Varsity Stadium where they will play the Queen's Gaels on Sunday, October 1. Kick-off is scheduled for 3:15 p.m. Tickets are available here, while the match will also be streamed on oua.tv.
