The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's basketball team won their game against the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks with a final score of 79-72 on Friday (Sept. 28) night at the Toronto Pan Am Centre.
Fourth-year guard Callum Baker led the team in scoring with 21 points, six rebounds and a game-high seven assists. Baker was followed by fifth-year forward Somachi Agbapu with 16 points a game-high eight rebounds.Â
The Blues kept hold of the lead in all four quarters, starting with a 21-19 advantage at the end of first. In the second quarter, the Blues carried momentum scoring 16 points to end the quarter, getting them to 37-32 at halftime. In the third quarter, the Ridgebacks started to cut into the Blues lead, scoring 19 points, but the Blues added 22 to take extend their advantage to eight points by the end of the frame, 59-51. Despite the Ridgebacks efforts, Toronto took the win at the end of the fourth 79-72.Â
The Varsity Blues return to the court on Friday, October 6 to face off against Centennial College at the Goldring Centre for High-Performance Sport. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. Tickets for the contest are available atÂ
