In Josh Allan's first game as head coach, the Varsity Blues men's rugby team beat the York Lions 59-7 on Sunday (Sept. 17) afternoon at Varsity Stadium.

Third-year Joey Ficocelli opened the scoring five minutes into the first half to propel the Blues into the lead. U of T completed four more try's in the first half to hold a commanding 33-0 lead at halftime. Despite York's effort, the Blues came out victorious 59-7.Â

Jackey Kuang, Jesse Swan and Peter Lin led the way for the Blues this afternoon, picking up two try's apiece. Third-year Kyle Reboldela and fourth-year Gianpaolo Fortino completed a try each to help the Blues to victory.

Matthew Olson converted for the Blues on six occasions through the game.Â

The win the marks the first for the men's rugby program since Sept. 16, 2017.
The Blues return to the field on Saturday, September 23 when they play the Trent Excalibur in Peterborough, Ont. Kick-off is scheduled for 3 p.m.
