OFFENSIVE STRUGGLES SINK TORONTO ON HOME TURF

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's lacrosse team dropped a 5-2 result to the visiting Laurier Golden Hawks on Sunday (Sept. 17) evening at Varsity Stadium.

Looking to rebound from a home opening loss the day prior, the Blues came into the Sunday matchup with increased physicality and defensive presence. The focus on the defensive end of the field saw strong performances from starting goalie Sam Lehman, along with defenders Mathieu Clavet, Henry Klinck, and Michael Lamacchia.

Despite the strong defensive effort which held the visitors to just one individual marker in three of the four quarters, U of T struggled to find rhythm on the offensive half of the field. Two second quarter goals from Graham Dicken kept Toronto within striking distance, trailing the Golden Hawks 3-2 at the halftime break. But after returning to field following the intermission, the Blues were held scoreless through the final two frames.

Toronto will next conclude a three-game home stand versus the Western Mustangs next Saturday, Sept. 23. Tickets for the clash at Varsity Stadium are available via varsityblues.ca/tickets, while action is scheduled to get underway at 5 p.m.
