In their first home game of the season, the Varsity Blues field hockey team beat the Guelph Gryphons 5-2 on Sunday (Sept. 17) afternoon at Back Campus Fields.

Elizabeth Assimes led the way for the Blues scoring the Blues first goal in the 10
th minute. Assimes added her second of the game midway through the third quarter. Third-year forward Molly Koop added a goal of her own early in the second quarter to double the Blues lead.Â

Captain Rebecca Carvalho and Molly Cooper-Gray recorded goals for the Blues in the fourth quarter to solidify the Blues win over the Gryphons.

Guelph picked up two goals back-to-back in the third period, with goals from Harper Griffin and Isla MacPherson.

The Blue and White return to action on Wednesday, September 20 when they'll head to Hamilton, Ont. to face-off against the McMaster Marauders at 7 p.m.
