The Varsity Blues men's soccer team drew 3-3 with the Queen's Gaels in their opening match of the 2023 OUA regular season on Thursday (Aug. 31) evening in Kingston, Ont.
 
The Blues were able to claw back from an early 3-1 deficit with back-to-back goals from rookie forward Michael Maslanka late in the first half. First-year forward Andrea Schifano also scored his first goal as a member of the Varsity Blues.
 
Matthew Ciavarro led the way for the Queen's Gaels, picking up two goals and an assist. Pablo-Hempelmann-Perez added a goal for the Gaels, as well. 
 
Both Blues goalie, Maxwell Campeau, and Gaels goalie, Manuel Dirube, made three saves through the 90 minutes. 
 
The Blues hit the pitch once again on Sunday, September 3 when they play the Carleton Ravens in Ottawa, Ont. Kick-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
