BLUES FALL TO MARAUDERS, SET SIGHTS ON OUA PLAYOFFS

In their final regular season game of the 2022-23 season, the University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's basketball team fell to the McMaster Marauders 90-86 in overtime on Saturday (Feb. 18).
 
The Blues finish the season in fourth place in the OUA Central division with a record of 13-9.
 
PLAYOFF PICTURE:  For the first time since the 2017-18 season, the Blues advance to the post season. They will head to Waterloo, Ont., to take on the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks this Wednesday, February 22 at 7 p.m.

TORONTO STATS: For the sixth-straight game, third-year guard Callum Baker led the Blues. The Oakville, Ont. native recorded 27 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and three steals.
 
Rookie forward Ryan Rudnick had 15 points, six rebounds and one block.

Inaki Alvarez and Anthony Daudu both tallied 14 points. Alvarez added four assists, two rebounds and two steals, while Daudu had nine rebounds, two assists, and a steal.

HOW IT HAPPENED: The Marauders got out to a strong start, ending the first quarter with a 27-17 lead.
 
The Blues battled back in the second quarter, outscoring the Marauders 22-20. With the new-found momentum, the Blues shrank the Marauders lead to eight (47-39) as they headed in for the half.
 
McMaster came back from the half dominant, extending their lead to 68-57 by the end of the third.
 
The Blues answered in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Marauders 22-11 to send the game into overtime (79-79).
 
Despite the Blues best efforts, the game would fall in the Marauders favour by a score of 90-86.
