BLUES BEAT YORK FOR FOURTH STRAIGHT VICTORY

The Varsity Blues men's hockey team beat the York Lions 4-2 to win their fourth straight game on Thursday (Nov. 9) afternoon at Canlan Sports Complex.

It was the Blues who got on the board first, with second-year forward Graham Dickerson opening the scoring in the first minute of the game, tipping in a shot from captain Cole Purboo. Brock McLeod tied up the game for the Lions midway through the first period.

After being held off the scoresheet for the rest of the first period, second-year forward Jacob King scored a goal of his own midway through the second, sending the Blues into the lead for the remainder of the game. Four minutes later, the Blues doubled their lead with a goal from Ben Woodhouse. Wrapping up the scoring for the Blues was defencemen Nick Grima, who put the Blues up by three late in the second period.

The Lions were the lone goal scorers in the third period, with McLeod recording his second of the game.

Jordan Fairlie picked up his third win as a Varsity Blue, making 20 saves in the process.

The Blues make their way to Trois Rivières, Que. to face off against the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières. Puck drop is set for 4 p.m., with the game being streamed online via oua.tv
