The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's basketball team beat the McMaster Marauders 102-100 in overtime in their home opener on Saturday (Nov. 4) night at the Goldring Centre for High Performance Sport.

Starting out the game, the Blues and Marauders were neck and neck the whole quarter, but the Marauders would lead 29-23 at the end. Anthony Daudu and Dane Quest stood out under the basket with two and one blocks, respectively. In the second quarter, the Blues made some good plays, scoring 14 points to just trail McMaster 45-37.

Callum Baker stood out scoring 9 points in the third quarter getting him to 19 points in the game at the end of the third. Rookie Nate Bureau also made use of his minutes in the third quarter, scoring 12 points in the third. The Blues ended the quarter cutting into the Marauders lead 68-67.

In the fourth quarter, the Blues made a comeback, with the Blues outscoring the Marauders 31-22. Quest scored a layup in the final minute sending the Blues to overtime.Â

In overtime, the Blues hustled hard and took a lead at the beginning of the quarter. Baker grabbed six points scored the game winning shot to send the Blues to victory.
