BLUES DROP CLOSE CONTEST TO MCMASTER

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's basketball team fell to the McMaster Marauders 80-78 on Saturday (Nov. 11) night in Hamilton, Ont.

In the first quarter, the Blues kept close to the Marauders to start the game, but McMaster would go on a scoring run late in the quarter to lead 25-13. The Blues battled hard in the second quarter, holding the Marauders lead to 12 (42-30). Third-year guard Aleer Aleer-Leek recorded a game-high five points in the quarter. The Toronto, Ont. native shot two-for-three from the field, while shooting one-for-two from behind the arc. 
 
In the second half, the Blues came out strong, cutting into the Marauders lead, while outscoring them 27-18 in the third quarter (60-57). Despite the Blues effort and a 13-point quarter from Callum Baker, the Marauders would go on to take the game 80-78. 
 
Blues forward Anthony Daudu picked up a double-double in the game, recording 12 points and 16 assists. 
 
Next up, the Blues will play at the Goldring Centre to face off against the TMU Bold on Wednesday, November 15. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m., with tickets available online at varsityblues.ca/tickets. The game will also be streamed online via oua tv.
