The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's hockey team overpowered the TMU Bold 3-1 on Wednesday (Nov. 22) night at the Mattamy Athletic Centre in downtown Toronto.
Earlier in the season, the Blues emerged victorious against the Bold by an identical 3-1 score, which set the ton for an exhilarating rematch in the Wednesday evening showdown.
The first period was met with a high level of intensity from U of T, allowing them to take advantage with the first goal of the game as second-year forward Jacob King swung around the TMU net and slid the puck under the pad of Bold goaltender Kai Edmonds.
Determined to even the game in the second period, Bold forward Carson Gallagher leveled the score 1-1 for the home side heading into the third.Â
In a standout performance, talented first-year forward Aiden Reeves made his mark by scoring his first career OUA goal off a powerful slap shot midway through the third period, ultimately clinching the game for the Blues.
U of T added an insurance marker with an Owen Robinson empty-netter with under a minute remaining in regulation. The third-year forward for the Blues finished the game with three points, adding assists on both Toronto goals scored to his own third period marker.
Blues goaltender Jett Alexander was exceptional in net registering 36 total saves for his seventh win of the season.
U of T are back in action this Saturday (Nov. 25) night at Varsity Arena, where they will face off against the Guelph Gryphons. Puck drop for the home game is set for 7 p.m., with tickets available online at
