BLUES OFFENCE PUTS UP EIGHT GOALS IN WIN OVER GUELPH

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's hockey team took a commanding 8-1 victory over the Guelph Gryphons on Saturday (Nov. 25) night at Varsity Arena.

First-year forward Julian Recine opened the scoring early in the first period for the Blues from third-year forward Owen Robinson. Minutes later the Blues went on a power play and third-year defenceman Nick Grima passed the puck to wide-open defenceman Emmett Serensits, who had just enough time to place his shot behind Gryphons goaltender Tanner Wickware.

Up by two goals early in the first, the Blues offence did not stop there. First-year forward Christian Stevens scored his second and third goals for the Blues this season back-to-back late in the first. Third-year forward Billy Moskal topped it off with a pass from second-year forward Zack Smith, putting the Blues up 5-0 at the end of the first.

Two minutes into the second period, Guelph forward Jonah De Simone scored the first and only goal for the Gryphons.

First-year forward Nicholas Primomo opened the scoring in the third period with his first OUA goal as a Blue. Zack Smith, second-year forward, added another goal on the scoreboard for the Blues.

With under four minutes left in the game, Grima added a goal of his own on the power play, making the score 8-1.

Toronto goaltender Rayce Ramsay contributed to the Blues success with a total of 28 saves.

Prior to the start of the game, men's hockey equipment manager Sam Asaro was celebrated for his 500thgame as equipment manager for the Blues.

The Blues are back in action next Friday (Dec. 1) night at Varsity Arena, where they will face off against the Waterloo Warriors. Puck drop for the home game is set for 7 p.m., with tickets available online at varsityblues.ca/tickets. The game will also be streamed online at oua.tv.
