U OF T CAPTURE THIRD TITLE IN FOUR YEARS

Winning their third title in four years, the Varsity Blues women's tennis team beat the Waterloo Warriors 4-3 to capture the OUA women's tennis championship.

It was a great start for the Blues, winning two of three doubles matches, including a 8-4 and 8-2 win from the pairs of Anastasia Dyadchenko and Maria Popova, and Mia Wong and Janet Pham. In the final doubles match, Noelle Vanessa-Wilbert and Felina Yang fell 8-5 to Jana Llorin and Kari Gunton

In singles play, the Blues and Warriors split the games. The Warriors took the opening two matches. But the Blues wouldn't be stopped, taking the next three games, with the help of dominant wins from Noelle Vanessa-Wilbert (6-0, 6-2) and Felina Yang (6-2, 6-0) in the three- and four-slot. Mia Wong sealed the deal for Toronto winning 6-2, 6-4 in the five-slot. After the Blues secured the championship, Jana Al-Khatib played to a 3-3 draw against Jana Llorin.
