BLUES TAKE REVENGE AGAINST WESTERN IN OUA FINAL

After falling to the Mustangs in last year's OUA final, the Varsity Blues men's tennis team beat the Western Mustangs 4-3 to win the 2023 OUA Championship.

The Blues took advantage in the doubles, finishing with two of three wins. Rassam Yazdi and Michael Chu opened the day with an 8-3 win over Abdullah Khan and Aidan Sarnese, followed by a commanding 8-1 win from Raghav Sundaraman and Kevin Wong. In the final match, the pair of Arden D'Aniello and Alexander Luchak battled hard, but were just edged out 8-6 by Lawson Cross and Aidan Zia.
 
In singles action, the Mustangs started with wins from Ashton Cross and Aidan Zia, over Rassam Yazdi and Zackary Wilson, respectively. The Blues came alive in the later slots, with Raghav Sundaraman beating Aidan Sarnese 6-3, 7-5 and Tyler Lunaria beating Wilson Boyle 7-6, 6-2. Michael Chu was the hero for the Blues, beating Abdullah Khan in the four-slot, in a three-set thriller 4-6, 6-4, 6-2.
