The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's soccer team shut out the No. 10 Nipissing Lakers 4-0 on Saturday (Oct.14) afternoon in North Bay, Ont.
With the victory, the Blues sit in sixth place in the OUA East division, just one point shy of fifth place.

Both teams were scoreless in the first half with the Blues only recording one shot in the first 45 minutes.Â

In the second half, the Blues came out ready for the win. Captain Hannah Chown opened the scoring for the Blues in the 58
th minute, converting from the penalty spot, for her seventh goal of the season. Minutes later, defender Paige Young added another goal for the Blues.Â

Third-year forward Anne Yeomans secured the victory for the Blues with back-to-back goals. Ten minutes after Young's goal, Yeomans followed with a breakaway goal, and shortly following, the Calgary, Alta. native added another in the 81
stminute.Â
The Blues defence excelled as first-year goalkeeper Maria Godoy-Atrash recorded her third shutout of the season.Â
