BLUES FALL TO LAVAL IN EXHIBITION GAME

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's basketball team fell to the Laval Rouge et Or 62-46 in an exhibition game on Saturday (Oct. 14) afternoon at the Goldring Centre for High Performance Sport.

With a close game overall, the Blues started off the game leading 14-13, with Laval trailing close behind. At the end of the half, Toronto sat just one point behind the Rouge et Or 28-27. Despite the Blues best efforts in the third quarter, Laval took a big lead scoring 22 points, finishing off the quarter with a 15-point lead (50-35) and went on to win the game 62-46.

First-year guard Raya Hafez led the Blues this game scoring 12 points, and grabbing three rebounds. Following her lead was veteran guard Ellen Ougrinov recorded nine points, five rebounds and two assists. Under the basket, Thuraya Abdul Hamid and Sabrina Nero had a team-high seven rebounds each.

Up next, the Blues will take part in the York University Invitational from Friday, Oct. 20 to Sunday, Oct. 22.
