TORONTO FALLS TO WINDSOR IN EXHIBITION PLAY

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's basketball team fell to the Windsor Lancers 64-55 in an exhibition game on Friday (Oct. 11) night at the Goldring Centre for High Performance Sport

Toronto had a good start, leading the game 16-15 at the end of the first quarter and carrying a similar one-point lead into the half. However, the Lancers were able to catch up to Blues, taking the lead 48-40 by the end of the third and never conceding back.

Despite the final score, Toronto's offence saw positive results shooting over 40 percent from the field and over 36 percent from behind the three-point line.

Veteran guard Ellen Ougrinov led the Blues in points scoring a team-high 19, while also adding four assists, three rebounds, and two steals to her night. Following closely behind, Kaylee Williams scored 15 points and notched an impressive five steals, while Sabrina Nero helped the Blues under the basket with nine rebounds and two blocks.

The Blues will next host the Laval Rouge et Or at the Goldring Centre on Saturday, Oct. 14. Tip-off versus Laval is scheduled for 12 p.m. with tickets available online at varsityblues.ca/tickets.
