A combined four goals from Colin O'Dwyer and Stefano Capano lead the Varsity Blues men's soccer team to win their season opener 9-0 against the RMC Paladins on Sunday afternoon in Kingston, Ont.
With the win, the Blues start their 2022 campaign with a 1-0 record.
The Blues came out flying in the first half, scoring five goals. Stefano Capano scored a first half brace, scoring in the sixth and 45
th minutes. Patrik Dufault-Geleziunas would extend the Blues lead in the 14
th minute. Second-year defender Antonio Tripoldi would add to the lead in the 17
th minute. Nicholas Castillo added another goal for the Blues in the 42
nd minute.
In the second half, John Demitry ('53) and Shon Siegelwachs ('63) would extend the Blues lead. Second-year striker Colin O'Dwyer scored the last two goals of the game, in the 68
th and 75
th minutes.
Through the 90 minutes, the Varsity Blues had 19 shots, 17 of them being on goal.
The Varsity Blues return to action Sunday, September 11 when they faceoff against the Carleton Ravens in Ottawa, Ont. Kick off is scheduled for 3:15 p.m.
