The Varsity Blues women's soccer team fell 4-1 to the Ottawa Gee-Gee's on Saturday afternoon (Sept. 3) at Varsity Stadium.
With the loss, the Blues start their 2022 season with a 0-1 record.
The Gee-Gees came out strong in the first half, scoring four goals. Second-year forward Cassandra Provost would give the Gee-Gees an early lead after three minutes. Maya Smith scored from the edge of the box, adding to the GeeGees lead ('16). Nibo Dlamini would convert on her penalty kick to extend the GeeGee's lead to 3-0 ('19). Second-year midfielder Katie Brzozowski scored off the rush to cap off the first half ('35).
Second-year forward Hannah Chown scored the Blues lone goal from a free kick in the 90
th minute.
The Varsity Blues return to action Sunday, September 4 when they faceoff against the RMC Paladins in Kingston, Ont. Kick off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
