The Varsity Blues men's lacrosse team lost to the Brock Badgers 6-5 on Saturday (Sept. 24) afternoon in St. Catherines.
The Blues are now 1-2 in the 2022 CUFLA season.Â
A slow start for the Blues proved costly when they allowed Brock to jump out to a 3-1 lead after the first quarter and take a 5-1 lead into the half.
The Blues showed a ton of resilience in the third by scoring four unanswered goals, entering the fourth quarter tied at 5. A tight game with few mistakes in the fourth ultimately did not go the Blues' way when Brock took the lead for good with 2 minutes left in the game.
The Blues were led on the offensive end by Davis Bottomley who scored a hattrick in the third quarter. Single markers went to George Browne and Thomas Dunnett. Defensively, Macon Jeffreys was stellar in goal in his first game of the season, while starting defenders Sam Gaskin, Nolan Power, and Andrew Berti each shutdown their offensive counterparts.
The Varsity Blues return to action Sunday, September 25 when they faceoff against Laurier in Waterloo. Kick off is scheduled for 5 p.m.
