The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's and women's teams both improved to 2-0 to start the OUA season, after each squad picked up a road victory over the York Lions on Saturday afternoon.

Helping guide the women's team to a 6-1 victory over the Lions, Winnie Choi, Pia Jhattu, Veronika Podobed and Mia Wong all won both of their matches. Each woman cruised in their singles match, winning in straight sets, with the second set of each match being won 6-0. While in doubles action, Choi and Podobed teamed up for an 8-1 victory, along with her partner Andrea Kuntjoro, Jhattua won her doubles match 8-3, and Wong and Amy Ji picked up an 8-1 victory.

On the men's side, it was a similar story to their women counterparts.

Also winning by a score of 6-1, the Blues men's team had two student-athlete who went on to win a pair of matches on Saturday.

Leading Toronto to victory, Arden D'Aniello and Zack Willson secured singles victories of 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 and 6-1, 6-1 respectively, while the two also teamed up for an 8-3 win in doubles.

Both the men's and women's teams will resume their schedules on Sunday when they host the Brock Badgers.
