SECOND QUARTER PROVES COSTLY FOR BLUES IN LOSS TO MUSTANGS

The Toronto Varsity Blues men's lacrosse team played their 2022 regular season home-opener on Sunday night at Varsity Stadium.

Playing host to the Western Mustangs, the Blues jumped on the board first but ultimately fell 12-5 to the visitors from London, Ont.

With 4:06 to play in the opening quarter, it was Davis Bottomley giving Toronto the lead. After Wester equalized the game, the Blues regained the lead with just over a minute to play in the opening quarter on a goal form Declan McPherson. With only one second to play in the quarter Western would one again tie the score.

The goal sparked an eight-goal run by the visitors as they took a 9-2 lead.

The Blues would go on to get goals from Dylan Doucette, Sam Gaskin and George Browne, however that was as much as Toronto would be able to muster in their comeback effort.

Now 1-1 to start the season, Toronto will switch their attention to the Brock Badgers, who they will pay a visit to on September 24.
