The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's basketball team downed the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks 79-61 on Sunday, March 6 at the Goldring Centre for High-Performance Sport.
With the win, the Blues move into sixth place in the OUA East Division and playoff position, with a 4-8 record.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Second-year guard Inaki Alvarez led the Blues with 15-points in the win. Alvarez played 25-minutes, going 2-for-4 from beyond the arc and 5-for-9 from the field.
Fellow second-year guard Anthony Torelli tallied 14-points, two rebounds, one steal and one assist, while third-year guard Steven Rwahwire had 11-points, two rebounds and three assists on the night.
The Blues started strong up 20-19 at the end of the first-quarter before pulling away in the second, extending their lead to 40-34. In the third and fourth-quarters, the Blues dominance continued leaving the Ridgebacks behind with a score of 79-61 at the final buzzer.
The Ridgebacks were led by second-year guard, Anthony Pate who recorded 19-points, five rebounds, and one block in their loss.
UP NEXT : The Varsity Blues return to action this Sunday, March 11 against the York Lions at Goldring Centre for High-Performance Sport. Game time is set for 8 p.m.
