The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's basketball team fell 84-82 to the York Lions on Friday, March 11 at the Goldring Centre for High-Performance Sport.
With the loss, the Blues move out of playoff position and into seventh place in the OUA East Division (4-9).
HOW IT HAPPENED:
In their final home game, veterans Eli Mouyal and Evan Shadkami both had standout performances. Mouyal led the Blues with a career-high 19-points and had four rebounds, three steal and two assists, while Shadkami tallied 16-points, a career-high six-assists, five rebounds, and one steal.
Second-year forward Anthony Daudu played just 14-minutes, but tallied 11-points and two rebounds in that time.
Third-years Somachi Agbapu and Jeremy Aibi co-led the Blues with seven rebound each.
The Blues first-quarter dominance saw the team take a 26-15 lead, and hold that lead through the second (45-36) and third-quarters (71-60). However, a back-and-fourth fourth-quarter saw the Lions battle back to down the Blues 84-82.
The Lions were led by fourth-year guard, Prince Kamunga who recorded 32-points, seven rebounds, and five steals in their win.
UP NEXT :Â The Varsity Blues return to action this Saturday, March 12 in their last game of the 2021-22 season in a rematch vs. the York Lions. The game will be played at York University and tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
