BISHOP EARNS GOALTENDER OF THE YEAR; POTTS AND MOSKAL EARN OUA HONOURS

Three players from the Varsity Blues men's hockey team received recognition from the OUA on Tuesday (Mar. 22).

The Blues made an exciting run to the end of the season, winning five straight games to not only secure a playoff spot but a home playoff game.

A big reason for this success is goaltender Alex Bishop. The third-year finance and economics major was in the net for all five games of the end of season winning streak, including a 4-0 shutout victory over the York Lions on March 5. Bishop's eight wins are good for second in the conference and he ends the regular season with a goals against average of 2.54 and a save percentage of .920.

The Richmond Hill, Ont., product has had a year to remember, winning the OUA Far West/West goaltender of the year, being named an OUA West second team all-star, and dressing as the emergency backup for the Toronto Maple Leafs in October.

Joining Bishop is forward Kyle Potts. During the Blues five-game winning streak, the management major scored four goals and one assist, including a two-goal effort versus the York Lions on March 5. His 13 goals ranks 1st in the conference, while he finished 9th in total points (19).

Billy Moskal earns a spot on the OUA Far West/West all-rookie team after a breakout first season. The Sudbury, Ont., native was tied with Potts for the team lead in points (19), finishing with eight goals and 11 assists. His eight goals tied him for 8th in the conference.
