BLUES TRUMP RIDGEBACKS, FOUR BLUES IN DOUBLE-DIGITS

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's basketball team downed the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks 98-74 on Wednesday, March 2 at the Goldring Centre for High-Performance Sport.

With the win, the Blues remain in eighth place in the OUA East Division with a 3-9 record.

Fourth-year guard Evan Shadkami recorded 19-points on the night. The Toronto native played 24-minutes, going 5-for-7 from beyond the arc and 7-for-9 from the field. On the defensive side, Shadkami played an aggressive game securing fours steals and three rebounds in the win.

Three other Blues recorded double-digit points on the night. First-year guard Kalyem Liburd-Mullings had 13-points, five assists, two rebounds and one steal, while second-year guard Anthony Torelli tallied 15-points and five rebounds. Third-year guard and Daytona State

College transfer, Steven Rwahwire put up 13-points and seven boards in the win.

The Blues started strong, outscoring the Ridgebacks in the first quarter. However, the second saw the Ridgeback take the lead up 41-39 at the half. In the third and fourth-quarters the Blues pulled ahead securing the win over the Ridgebacks 98-74. 

The Ridgebacks were lead by third-year guard, Anthony Pate. Pate recorded 18-points, five rebounds and two steals.

UP NEXT: The Varsity Blues return to action this Sunday, March 6 in a rematch with the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks at Goldring Centre for High-Performance Sport. Game time is set for 3 p.m.
