Box Score The Varsity Blues women's hockey team continued their winning ways on Saturday night (Feb. 26) defeating the York Lions 4-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED:Â The Varsity Blues got on the board first, as Taylor Trussler scored on the powerplay, netting her eighth goal of the season. Toronto was not able to score another in the first despite having two more powerplay opportunities.
In the second, fourth-year forward Louie Bieman had her senior night moment, putting a wrist shot past York goalie Serena Vilde. Fellow senior Laura Ellis scored her fourth goal of the season, giving the Blues a 3-0 lead after two.
Juliette Blais-Savoie scored her first goal of the season on a two-on-one breakaway, adding to the Blues lead in the third. York would get their first goal of the game less than two minutes later as forward Tayler Murphy found the back of the net on the powerplay. The Blues held off the Lions comeback attempt and skated to a league-best eleventh win.
Third-year goalie Erica Fryer got her league-leading eleventh win of the season, stopping 19 of the 20 shots she faced.

UP NEXT:Â The Blues are on the road to end the regular season as they head to North Bay to take on the Nipissing Lakers. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
