BLUES DOWN LAKERS IN TATHAM'S FIRST WIN AS HEAD COACH

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's basketball team downed the Nipissing Lakers 75-52 in Coach Tamara Tatham's first win as head coach on Friday February, 11 at Goldring Centre.

TORONTO STATS:

The Blues started strong, leading 23-16 at the end of the first. Carrying their first quarter momentum well into the second, the Blues pulled ahead by a score of 38-24 by the half. Continuing their form through the third and fourth quarters the Blues saw out their first win of the season by a score of 75-52.

Second-year guard Lauren Boers lead the Blues for the first-time this season with 16-points, two boards and two steals.

First-year forward Jada Poon-Tip continued her impressive season tallying 10-points, seven rebounds, and two steals, while second-year guard Thuraya Abdul Hamid also had 10-points, but added five boards and two assists.

Veteran guard Christine Jurcau finished the night with 10-points while adding three rebounds and one assist.

UP NEXT: The Blues are back Saturday, February 12 in a rematch of tonight's game vs. the Nipissing Lakers. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
