The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's basketball team fell 81-57 to the No. 3 Queen's Gaels on Saturday (Dec. 3) night in Kingston, Ont.
After their final game in 2022, the Blues sit fifth in the OUA central division with a 3-7 record.
HOW IT HAPPENED: It was a tough first quarter for the Blues as the Gaels came out strong to take a 20-12 lead. At the halfway point the Gaels had increased their lead to 43-27. The Gaels would continue to lead in the third quarter (59-42) and would go on to close out the fourth quarter (81-57).
The Blues were led third-year guard Lauren Boers who scored 16 points and added two rebounds and two assists in 27 minutes. Just behind Boers was fourth-year guard, Ellen Ougrinov, who recorded 14 points, two rebounds and an assist in the loss.
The Gaels were led by Lauren Donovan who put up a game high 16 points, along with four rebounds and two assists.
UP NEXT: The Varsity Blues return to action on Wednesday, January 4 when they face off against the York Lions at Goldring Centre. Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m.
