The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's basketball team lost to the Queen's Gaels 96-95 on Saturday (Dec. 3) night in Kingston, Ont.

The Blues finish 2022 with an 8-2 record, sitting first in the OUA central division with 16 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED: The first quarter saw the Blues and Gaels play a tight game, until the Gaels began to pull ahead towards the end of the quarter (28-17). The Gaels would continue to lead in the second quarter (51-40), Guard Iñaki Alvarez and forward Ryan Rudnick would score a combined 16 points to hold the Gaels lead to 11.

A strong third quarter from the Blues saw them cut the Gaels lead down to one, after outscoring them 32-22 (73-72). The Blues and Gaels would trade the lead eight times in the fourth quarter, but the Gaels would come out with the win after a buzzer beater from Connor Kelly (96-95).
