The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's basketball team fell 66-54 to the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks on Friday (Dec. 2) night.
With the loss, the Blues now hold a 3-6 record and sit tied for third place in the OUA Central Divison.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Blues started strong holding a 20-13 lead after the first quarter. A back-and-forth second quarter saw the Ridgebacks battle back to take a 33-32 lead. The Blues picked up their defence in the third quarter but still trailed with the Ridgebacks taking the third quarter 50-48. Ultimately, the Ridgeback saw out their lead through the final quarter downing the Blues 66-54.
The Blues were led by second-year guard Gabby Reed who scored 13 points on the night. The Chantilly, VA. native also tallied a team-high nine rebounds and two assists for the Blues. Fellow second-year guard Faith Joseph was close behind with 10 points, including two assists and seven rebounds.
The Ridgebacks were led by Dalyssa Fleurgin who put up a game high 20 points, including two assist and 11 rebounds.
UP NEXT: The Varsity Blues return to action on Saturday, December 3 when they face off against Queen's University. Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m. in Kingston.
