BLUES EDGE TMU BOLD FOR FIRST WIN OF SEASON

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's basketball team beat the TMU Bold 88-87 in a tough game on Saturday (Nov. 5) at Mattamy Athletic Centre.

With this win, the Blues hold a record of 1-1 for the opening weekend. 

HOW IT HAPPENED: The Blues led at the end of the first quarter 26-24. The Bold responded with a second-quarter push and led 46-42 at the halfway mark. The Blues and Bold played a back-and-forth second half with the Blues leading by one at the end of the third quarter, 66-65, and would ultimately close out the game for an 88-87 win.

Third-year guard Iñaki Alvarez topped the Blues leaderboard with 29 points. The Altafulla, Spain native finished the game with five rebounds and two assists while playing in all 40 minutes.

First-year guard/forward Noah Ngamba recorded 18-points along with two rebounds and two assists. Fellow forward and Mississauga, Ont. native, Anthony Daudu added 12-points with 10 rebounds and one steal. 

The Bold were led by fourth year forward, Lincoln Rosebush, who recorded 23-points, four rebounds and two assists.

UP NEXT: The Varsity Blues return to action Wednesday, November 9 when they faceoff against the TMU Bold at Goldring Centre Kimel Family Field House. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m.
