THIRD QUARTER SINKS BLUES IN FIRST GAME OF WEEKEND ROAD TRIP

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's basketball team fell 76-68 to the Nipissing University Lakers on Friday (Nov. 25) night.
 
With the loss, the Blues now hold a 3-4 record, dropping to fourth in the OUA central division.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Blues started off strong as the first quarter consisted of back and forth scoring with the Lakers; the Lakers pulled ahead at the end finishing the first quarter with a one-point lead, 17-16. The Blues picked up their defence in the second taking a 36-34 advantage into halftime. The third quarter proved difficult for the Blues as they fell behind 62-50. Despite outscoring the Lakers in the fourth quarter 18-14, they still fell 76-68.

The Blues were led by third year guard, Lauren Boers who finished with 18-points. She also registered three assists, one steal, and seven rebounds. Second year forward, Jada Poon Tip also finished the night in the double figures for the Blues scoring 15 points. She added three rebounds, one assist and one steal for the Blues.
 
The Lakers were led by Krystal Osburn who put up a game-high 20 points, including one assist and six rebounds. 

UP NEXT: The Varsity Blues return to action on Saturday, November 26 when they face off against the Laurentian Voyageurs at the Ben F. Avery Physical Education Centre Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m.
