BLUES CONTINUE RED HOT START WITH WIN AT NIPISSING

Off to their best start of a season since 2010-11, the University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's basketball team beat the Nipissing Lakers 95-72 on Friday (Nov. 25) night at the Robert J Surtees Gymnasium.
 
With the win, the Blues now hold 6-1 record, while also extending their winning streak to six. They continue to hold the top spot in the OUA Central Division.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Blues' players got to work right away finishing the first quarter up 20-18. The Blues continued to put pressure on the Lakers in the second quarter taking an eleven-point lead at the halfway mark, 47-36. From there, the Blues were able to keep up the pace through the last half of the game. After three quarters of play, Toronto maintained a double-digit lead, 66-56. Then, outscoring the Lakers 29-16 in the final frame, the Blues rounded out their 95-72 victory.
 
First-year Blue, Callum Baker led Toronto, finishing the night with 27 points. He recorded one rebound and two assists as well. First-year guard/forward, Noah Ngamba also scored in the double-digits with 20 points. He also went on to contribute seven rebounds, four assists, and five steals for the Blues.
 
Inaki Alvarez, a third-year guard, was also crucial in the Blues success, contributing 12 points.

UP NEXT: The Varsity Blues return to action on Saturday, November 26 when they face off against the Laurentian Voyageurs at the Ben F. Avery Physical Education Centre Tip-off is set for 8:00 p.m.
