The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's basketball team beat the Algoma Thunderbirds 91-56 on Friday (Nov. 18) night at Goldring Centre.

With the win, the Blues hold a 3-3 record on the season, leaving them in second place in the OUA central division.Â
HOW IT HAPPENED:Â Â The Blues came storming out in the first quarter taking a nine-point lead (17-8). An offence-packed second quarter would see the Blues extend their lead to twenty points (43-23). In the third, the Blues would continue to extend their lead (70-36) and would ultimately go on to win the game 91-56.

Third-year guard Lauren Boers lead the way for the Blues scoring a game-high 23 points, along with three assists and two rebounds. Second-year forward Jada Poon Tip and third-year forward Thuraya Abdul Hamid had 13 points and 10 points, respectively.Â

Second-year guard had a game-high 11 rebounds in the Blues dominant win.Â

The Thunderbirds were led by Kaila Fong who recorded 18 points, three rebounds and three assists.Â
UP NEXT:Â The Varsity Blues return to action Friday, November 25 when they face off against Nipissing University. Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m.
