The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's basketball team beat the Algoma Thunderbirds 82-62 on Friday (Nov. 18) night at Goldring Centre.

With the win, the Blues hold a 5-1 record on the season, sitting atop the OUA central division with 10 points.Â
HOW IT HAPPENED:Â Â An intense back and forth first quarter saw the Blues squeak out with a two-point lead (22-20). The intensity would keep going in the second quarter, but the Blues prevailed holding their lead heading into the second half (36-33). The Blues come out hot in the third quarter, outscoring the Thunderbirds 27-20, extending their lead (63-53). A fourth quarter push from the Blues would leave them with a 20-point lead for the win (82-62).Â

The Blues were led by first-year guard/forward Noah Ngamba who recorded a double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Ngamba also shot 3-for-4 from beyond the arc.Â

Third-year forward Lukas Humle scored 14 points, along with four rebounds in the Blues win.

The Thunderbirds were led by Johan Germain who recorded 15 points, three rebounds and two assists.
UP NEXT:Â The Varsity Blues return to action Friday, November 25 when they face off against Nipissing University. Tip-off is set for 8:00 p.m.
