BLUES SHUTOUT GOLDEN HAWKS 3-0

Box Score The Varsity Blues women's hockey team won 3-0 against the Laurier Golden Hawks on Thursday (Nov. 17) night.

With the win, they sit first in the OUA East division with a 6-2 record and 18 points. 

WHAT HAPPENED:  Halfway through the first period, Blues third-year forward Juliette Blais-Savoie skated into the offensive zone and threw the puck on net to open the scoring for the Blues. With two and a half minutes to go in the first period, second-year forward Nikki McDonald would double the Blues lead. 



While it was a quiet second period on the scoring front, Blues goalie Erica Fryer and Laurier goalie Kayla Renaud made crucial saves for their respective teams. Fryer would finish the game with 10 saves, completing the shutout, her first of the season.

After grabbing her own rebound, second-year forward Katy McKenna finished the scoring for the Blues with five minutes left in the game. 
Blues' Emma Potter, Kalie Chan, Lauren Omoto and Lauren MacDonnell finished the game with an assist. 

UP NEXT: The Varsity Blues return to action Saturday, November 19 when they faceoff against York University at Varsity Arena. Puck drop is set for 3 p.m.
