The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's basketball team beat the York Lions 69-60 on Wednesday (Nov. 16) night at Tait McKenzie Centre

With the win, the Blues now hold a 4-1 record and extend their winning streak to four. They currently hold the top spot in the OUA central division.

HOW IT HAPPENED:Â Â The Blues' offence got to work right away trouncing the Lions in the first quarter 15-8. The York Lions answered back through the second narrowing the Blues lead to two, 28-26. The Blues widened their gap through the third, extending their lead to 48-46. In the fourth quarter, the Blues outscored the Lions 21-18 to come out ahead with the 69-60 win.

Third-year guard, Inkai Alvarez played a crucial role in the Blues' win, finishing the night with a game high 24 points. The Altafulla, Spain native also recorded seven rebounds and five assists in the win. Second-year forward, Lennart Weber tallied 16 points, nine rebounds and two assists for the Blues.

First-year forward Ryan Rudnick scored 11 points, while third-year forward Anthony Daudu scored 11 points and added 12 rebounds to secure a double doubl.Â

The York Lions were led by Tyler Pryce and Somoto Dimanochie who recorded 14 points. Dimanochie finished the night with 17 rebounds and one assist. Meanwhile, Pryce had three rebounds and two assists.
UP NEXT:Â The Varsity Blues return to action Friday, November 18 when they face off against the Algoma Thunderbirds at the Goldring Centre Kimel Family Field House. Tip-off is set for 8:00 p.m.
