The Varsity Blues' men's volleyball team beat the TMU Bold 3-2 (23-25, 25-20, 23-25, 25-21, 15-12) on Saturday (Nov. 12) night.
With the win, the Blues now have a record of 3-1, and win their second in a row. They currently sit third in the OUA standings.
HOW IT HAPPENED: Evan Falardeau led the Blues to victory with 29.5-points, including 10 digs.
The Blues fell to the Bold in a close first set, 23-25. They picked it up in the second set, scoring the first two points. They trailed in the beginning of the set, but with the help of the defence they were able to go on a run and breakout ahead of the Bold 25-20. In the third set, the Blues were not able to come ahead of the Bold. It was a tight third set with the teams battling it out; the Bold won 23-25.
After trailing 1-2 going into the fourth set, the Blues did not give up the set to the Bold. The Blues were able to come ahead and maintain the lead after outside hitter, Mitchell Neuert's early kill. Left side Evan Falardeau and middle blocker Hayden Cavender were crucial to scoring points and finished the set 25-21.
The fifth and final set began with the Blues getting on the board first. The Blues led at the switch and won the set with a service ace from Falardeau 15-12.
Davis Young finished with 40 assists, while Daniel Tudor recorded 13 digs. Mitchell Neuert finished the night with 12-points, all playing a significant role in the Blues' win.
UP NEXT: The Blues return to action Saturday, November 19 when they play against the Waterloo Warriors at Warriors at the Goldring Centre Kimel Family Field House. Game time is set for 8 p.m.
