BLUES HOST GAELS IN OLD FOUR BATTLE SATURDAY

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues football team will look to improve to 2-0 as they host the Queen's Gaels in our Under Armour Game of the Week this Saturday, October 2 at Varsity Stadium.

Tickets are already sold out for the Old Four battle. Ticket holders can visit this page on what to expect on Saturday.  The game will also be streamed live on OUA.tv.

The Blues will be celebrating Ron and Betty Murphy Day during halftime, honouring the decade-spanning impact of long-time Blues head coach Ron Murphy and his wife, Betty.

The Blues, who are coming off a bye week, are 1-0 to start 2021 after an 11-10 victory over the Ottawa Gee-Gees on Sept. 18. The Gaels are off to a hot start with a 2-0 record, having beaten Carleton 18-6 and Ottawa 30-7.

Fifth-year Blues quarterback Clay Sequeira will go toe-to-toe with fourth-year Gaels QB James Keenan. Sequeira threw for 247 yards, while rushing six times for 18 yards and one TD in the Blues season opener, while Keenan has struggled to find his groove in the air, averaging just 153.5 yards over the Gaels first two games.

Toronto's Week 1 win over Ottawa proved to be a defensive victory with rookie defensive back Koby Lee and veteran Tolu Ahmed leading the way with seven solo tackles apiece. They will have to look out for Gaels running back Rasheed Tucker, who ranks third in the league, averaging 112 yards on the ground over the first two weeks of action.
