TRUSSLER'S OVERTIME GOAL LIFTS BLUES PAST LIONS

Box Score The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's hockey team won an absolute thriller on Saturday, November 27, defeating the York Lions 2-1 in overtime.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED: It was a defensive first period as there were only eight shots total from the two teams.

In the second period, the Lions were able to get on the board first. Fourth-year forward Brooke Anderson scored on the powerplay with 10:49 remaining in the second.

Taylor Trussler finally solved York goalie Serena Vilde and tied it up for the Blues with less than seven minutes remaining. The teams were tied at one after 60 minutes of play.

In the extra frame, Trussler scored on a breakaway to get her second goal of the game, giving the Blues their sixth win and second-straight against York.

Fourth-year goalie Madeline Albert made 24 saves to earn her second win of the season.

UP NEXT: Toronto will be back at home on Friday, December 3 as they take on the Rams for their last regular season game of 2021. Puck drop is at 7:00 p.m.
